Belgian Rally Master Cup crowns fastest routine driver in the 2022 Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship

Who masterfully pairs speed with experience ?

There is no age on steerage. But, any rally driver who has passed 50 will also sometimes feel he is no longer 20. On the other hand, experience plays an essential role in rallying and, thanks to that experience, experienced rally drivers are usually still very competitive.

Young people taking their first steps in rallying and who do not yet have much experience will be put in the spotlight through the Junior Belgian Rally Championship, the ideal championship to make a name for themselves as a young talent. On the other hand, there was nothing yet in place to highlight the strong performances of older rally drivers among the young rallying talent. The Belgian Rally Master Cup changes that.

All drivers who are 50 years old or who turn 50 in 2022 and who participate in the Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship (holders of a RACB licence or with a licence from a foreign ASN registered in the BRC) will be able to score points for the Belgian Rally Master Cup, regardless of car type.

In each of the 10 races of the Kroon-Oil BRC, the points for the Belgian Rally Master Cup will be awarded to the first 10 drivers in the final standings who qualify, according to the known scale 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1. All results achieved will be taken into account.

For years, we have been impressed by the drive of a teenager with which the sixty-somethings Patrick Snijers and Paul Lietaer put the fire to the young wolves, with their Porsche and Opel Manta respectively. Now they can play off their speed and experience in the battle with other routinesmen who want to prove that 50 is just a number. A possible challenge for kleppers like Bruno Thiry, Freddy Loix, Timothy Van Parijs, Guino Kenis, Armand Fumal, Xavier Bouche, Henri Schmelcher, Jimmy D'hondt, Bert Coene, Bernard Munster, Stefaan Prinzie, Francis Lejeune and, why not,... Jos Verstappen.
