RACB 2WD Trophy, the affordable entry format as part of the 2022 Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship

In a few weeks' time, exactly Saturday 26 February, the Rally of Haspengouw will mark the launch of the Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship 2022. A new championship will be launched as part of this Belgian Championship, the RACB 2WD TROPHY, which succeeds the Rally Criterium.

Unlike what was the case for the Criterium, the RACB 2WD TROPHY will not constitute a separate trial. Participants in the 2WD Trophy will also complete the full ralle. Moreover, the RACB 2WD TROPHY will be organised on all the trials of the Kroon-Oil BRC. Competitors can score points for each of the 10 championship events and all points scored will count towards the final RACB 2WD Trophy standings. The 2WD Trophy will have its own overall ranking, with the same distribution of points for the first 10 in the standings (25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1), and there will also be a class ranking.

At the car level, only 2-wheel drive (FWD or RWD) mounts are allowed and the corrected cubic capacity must not exceed 2,000 cm3. The classes and groups allowed under the RACB 2WD Trophy are classes RC4 (A5, A6, A7 and N3 vehicles only), RC5 (N2, N1 only), NCE (E11, E10 and E9) and NCM (M15, M14 and M13 only).

Conventional tyres - petrol on sale

To maximise cost control, participants in the RACB 2WD Trophy are required to drive in conventional tyres. They must also use petrol from the conventional trade.

Pilots and co-pilots who do not hold a national licence can play a round of the RACB 2WD Trophy by holding a "One Event RACB 2 WD Trophy" licence.

Reduced registration fee

In agreement with BRC Promoter and RACB Sport, the organisers of the Kroon-Oil BRC races have reached an agreement to give RACB 2WD Trophy competitors a significant discount on the entry fee. The competitors will thus pay the same amount as Junior BRC competitors (e.g. Haspengouw €650; South Belgian Rally €600, 2-day rally about €950).

In short, very favourable conditions to enjoy not only the special races of the Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship this year, but also the atmosphere, appearance and failure of the national championship
