Rendezvous on 6 & 7 September in Roeselare, as the A&D Omloop van Vlaanderen will not only open the second half of the season of the Belgian Rally Championship, but in the wake of the 'oldest rally in Belgium', the tenors of the regularity event will also be following the - thoroughly adapted - special stages this year.
The Rock n Roll Classics. OMLOOP VAN VLAANDEREN REGULARITY stays true to its established concept. All regularity trials are closed to other traffic, allowing average speeds of up to 65 km/h. Regularity driving with extra sporting challenges for the driver while safety is more than guaranteed! Those who prefer to take it a little easier in terms of steering can enter a second category this year, with an average speed of up to 50 km/h. A category of regularity driving in its purest form. The regularity competition is not just an extension of the speed rally, but a separate organising committee 100% dedicated to the regularity category is ready to welcome the participants in the Regularity Village, a separate car park in the middle of the service park where the modern rally cars roar including a catering area reserved for regularity participants with a view of the speed rally competition centre! A unique experience!
More action on Friday night
Sports managers Bjorn & Jens Vanoverschelde put their heads together with the organisers of the A&D Omloop van Vlaanderen in recent weeks to determine the concept of the 2024 edition. "We know from experience that the organisers change their route thoroughly every year, but this year we were more than surprised! When defining the route, regularity riders were clearly considered, as the new route this year contains numerous technical passages that will make maintaining average speed difficult. An extremely varied terrain with different surfaces, albeit 100% asphalted. On top of that, not only have the tests been thoroughly redesigned, but we are again serving up a 100% new test!"
The competition will kick off on Friday evening, September 6, at 7pm where not only the competitors in the REGULARITY65 category will be allowed to compete, but those in the REGULARITY50 category will also be presented with an evening loop. "On Friday night, we are indeed going to present more action this year. 'REGULARITY50' participants will be presented with 3 regularity trials at dusk and finish the opening loop around 9pm. The 'REGLARITY65' competitors are already presented with 5 trials, 2 of which are in complete darkness, and finish the opening loop around... 11pm! On Saturday, 2 loops of 5 (!) different regularity tests are on the menu for both categories, including the 'circuit test' De Zoning at the edge of the service park. On Saturday, by the way, the regularity tenors will follow a specific timing, some 30 minutes after the passage of the last speed rally participant. That way, we guarantee a race rhythm without delays or queues at the start of the tests!"
You read it right: thoroughly adapted tests with technical passages, tests in darkness and a maximum of 2 passages per regularity test supplemented with the ingredients from previous editions will make this Rock n Roll Classics. OMLOOP VAN VLAANDEREN another unmissable appointment!
Explorations - timing - regulations - entries
The provisional regulations as well as the entry form are available on the renewed website www.omloopvanvlaanderen.be from 15 June. We would also like to mention that -in line with the other VHRS championship events- reconnaissance of the course is allowed this year, but only for the REGULARITY65 participants. The optional reconnaissance will take place on Friday 6 September from 09h00 to 11h30 and from 13h30 to 15h00. A maximum of one passage is allowed. Footage of the regularity trials will also be available 10 days before the start of the event.
